We have 3 sets of major salivary glands and numerous minor salivary glands in our head and neck.  Sometimes these glands can become inflamed or blocked, causing discomfort and infections.  Occasionally salivary glands can harbor benign and malignant tumors. Frequently, surgery will be recommended for salivary tumors.
