What are allergies?
If you have allergies, you are reacting to something eaten, touched or inhaled.
What is Immunotherapy?
Allergy injections or allergy shots are known as immunotherapy. Immunotherapy is prescribed to decrease or eliminate your body’s responses to a particular allergens, like pollen, animal dander, dust mite, or mold to name a few. This is done by injecting a small amount of the extracted allergen into the skin. In response your body will begin to make protective antibodies or fighter cells against the allergens to which you are allergic.
How long is treatment?
You should start feeling improvement within 6-12 months. Many individuals undergo treatment for 3-5 years or until your symptoms have been eliminated or significantly reduced. For some people, treatment can be lifelong.
